Olmsted associated park: Central Park, New York
Olmsted believed in the obscurity of detail for his landscape designs in order to unconsciously settle the human mind.
I chose to paint The Bridle Path in Central Park and to express it with the intention to try and mirror Olmsted's philosophy.
I was drawn to the un paved path and smattering of trees. I wanted to express a feeling similar to what Olmsted worked towards in his design, putting the individual into a state of relaxation and thoughtfulness.
