Olmsted associated park: Bok Tower, Lake Wales, Florida
Bok Tower Gardens is a 250 acre contemplative garden situated atop Iron Mountain which is one of the highest elevations in Florida. Edward and Mary Louise Bok commissioned Frederik Law Olmsted, Jr. in the early 1920's to transform the arid sandhill into one of the most beautiful spots in the world. The centerpiece is a 150 foot singing tower with reflecting pond. The 60 bell carillon was cast by John Taylor & Co, Loughborough, England.
I've lived about an hours drive from the park for 40 years and never went. But I had hear that it was beautiful. When I went to gather reference material for this painting I was amazed. The whole park was way beyond expectations!
