Moonrise - Lemon Island
Oil on Wood Panel
8" x 11.5"
A wonderful part of my reconnection with the Lowcountry of South Carolina was a two year teaching stint in 2012-2014 at USC Beaufort. On one of my weekly drives to Beaufort from Savannah, I often took extra time to explore discoveries along the way. One such discovery was a remote setting on Lemon Island, just south of the Broad River bridge. Over several late afternoons, I created a pair of small oil panels, capturing the moon rise to the east and the sunset to the west, simply by turning 180deg with my easel.
