It was a very humid morning during the 2022 Bath County Plein Air, in Bath County, VA, and I had two other paintings of various views of this barn in progress. As I was waiting for washes to dry I started this compositional study of the barn facade. As I was cropping the patterns of color, light and shadow, Piet Mondrian's abstract pattern logic came to mind and thus the name of the painting.
