Olmsted Park Location: Patterson Park, Baltimore
Painted in Patterson Park in Baltimore, Maryland. I chose the magnolia tree because of its interesting shape but also because Mr. Olmstead was known for his selection and placement of trees within his designs. What intrigued me was that this park was a battle site in the War of 1812, and the defenses created for the battle were kept in his design. The placement of the trees turned a scene of violence into a place of urban tranquility.
