"The smallest of my three cotton field paintings done this year. As like the other two this was composed from multiple cotton fields I have visited and painted in my travels and time spent the past few years in the southern states. Thinking about some of my favorite southern marsh paintings of Martin Johnson Heade, American Luminist from the 19th Century, I added in the glow of the sun setting over the cotton."
