This building is on a route I drive in Atlanta at least once a week. It is almost always shadowed, hidden by trees, like a woman with her face covered by her hair.. When I was exploring sites to paint in Atlanta, I visited it early in the morning and saw for the first time the grandeur of its detailing. It was in fact designed by Philip Schutze, Atlanta's most revered architect. Known as The Italian Villa until WWII, it became merely The Villa.
