This was painted as a study for a larger painting. I was in Portland OR plein air painting with my husband and daughter. I just remember winding up this hilly road. The rose garden is at the top of a hill. All the roses were in bloom! We were like kids in a candy store. All the colors and smells were intoxicating to say the least. We had the added pleasure to be there when a wedding party, with little flower girls in beautiful flowing dresses were running around looking like fairies.
