I'm a sucker for daffodils. Seeming to thrive on neglect, they burst into the late winter landscape bringing joy. Their trumpet shape, perpendicular to the lighter corolla, creates variations of color, from direct light, cast and form shadows, reflected greens and the glow inside the cup, making them challenging to paint. This time they have a little competition from the later hyacinth buds. Painted en plein air this Spring.
