Water Garden
Oil on Oil Paper
7" x 11"
I am a sucker for a pond scheme!!! The beauty of the tree shapes reflecting downward in the water, the sky flickering in the horizontal ripples across them, iris blooming, come together to make my favorite time of year here at this painting location. What is not to like? Luckily for me it was close to my home. It was the first place I ever pained plein air, (my painting buddy lived there) but I would become a fixture there over time. I am an avid photographer, maybe you could say I take pictures for quantity's sake over quality's sake. I do that because I imagined a time when I would not live close to this special place and I would have to use my memories of it to re-create that feeling of peace and calm I get standing on it's edge. It's OK, My mentor always told to paint a place the way I want to remember it. With all of its diverse moods, through all the seasons, this place I will never forget.
