I painted this painting alla prima en plein air during the annual Pacific Northwest Plein Air event in 2021 during 100-degree temperatures. I found a pocket down low in the canyon where I could sit on a rock in the shade. As challenging as it was to work in the heat, I found this secluded spot very satisfying. This painting was also awarded semi-finalist in the 17th Annual LPAPA Best of Plein Air Exhibition in 2021. The last few years, I've kept it in my collection to be used as reference material for a larger studio painting.
