This larger studio painting, completed in 2025, was developed from sketches and notes gathered during a warm October afternoon while painting on location in Laguna Canyon for the Laguna Plein Air Invitational. I was drawn to the winding road and the way late-day light moved across the hills, creating rich and unexpected color harmonies. Back in the studio, I refined that fleeting moment into a more expressive interpretation of light and atmosphere. The painting is presented in a custom frame by Laguna Beach framer Mayen Olsen.
