Sunflower Splendor
Oil on Linen Canvas
24" x 36"
Looking across a field of sunflowers is a sight to behold. The impact of all that yellow color exploding en masse on top of all the tall classic green stalks. But... if you get up close, like I like to, you discover each individual flower has it's own unique identity! Each is in it's separate phase of glory; from a bud just opening, to full bloom, and then fading. Each flower wanting to let the world know that "I am here", and, "this is my story". When I paint a painting like this I can't help but connect to each flower and it's personality, I try to get into their heads and imagine what they must be saying. Is one taking a bow after an amazing performance?
Is that one shy? How about the nurturer and the the runaway, the baby wanting their due attention, and the teenager saying "who? me?" It is just so much fun! What do you see?
